What sort of fit do you want?

We have received feedback from customers that our clothing corresponds well with the measurements in the size charts. However, no bodies look the same and some garments are designed for a snug fit, while others have a looser fit. Depending on the design of the item, the fit may therefore differ. The product descriptions for the garments inform which fits they have, and they are one of the below.

Narrow: If you want a snug fit that follows your shapes, this fit is right for you.

Regular: Our most common fit with classic measurements and space for an extra layer underneath when needed.

Relaxed: The relaxed fit is for you who don’t want a too close-fitting garment, nor an oversized, voluminous design.

Oversized: Our widest fit that is partly a choice of design for garments to take their rightful space, and partly for you who want to use looser, larger garments. For a closer fit, pick a size smaller than the one you normally wear.

Between sizes?

If your measurements fall between two sizes, we recommend opting for the smaller size if you want a more snug fit and the large size for a looser fit.

How do I measure myself?

Using a tape measure, measure directly against your body in centimetres to determine your size. In order to pick the correct size for jackets and tops, you should take your chest measurement. In order to pick the correct size for bottoms, go by your hip and waist measurements. Range of movement is already taken into account.

  • A

Chest measurement

Measure over the fullest part of your bust and over the shoulder blades, ideally with a bra on. Go by this measurement when selecting jackets and tops.

  • B

Waist

Measure your waist at the narrowest point. If you want to know what size to choose for bottoms, go by your hip measurement first of all. Waist measurement is secondary.

  • C

Hips

Measure around your hips at the widest point, which is roughly 20 cm below your waist.

  • D

Inside leg length

Inside leg length is measured from the crotch down to the floor.

What shoe size am I?

No one feels comfortable in footwear that is too big or too small. In order to make it easier for you to find your size, you need to measure based on the internal length of the sole. Measure your foot from heel to big toe to determine the correct size.

What size of hat or cap do I need?

You need to measure the circumference of your head at its widest point, roughly one centimetre above your eyebrows and eyes. Don’t pull the tape measure too tight. If the measurement falls between two whole centimetres, round up to the larger size. No tape measure? In that case, you can measure using a length of string, and then measure it against a ruler or folding rule. The circumference of the head is measured in centimetres.

FINDING YOUR CHILD’S SIZE

Between sizes?

We have received feedback from customers that our kids’ clothing is slightly on the large side. We would therefore recommend opting for the smaller of the sizes you are considering. Several of our garments also feature our Extend Size function, which allows the arms and/or legs to be extended by up to five centimetre by unpicking a seam.

VIKING: SIZING KIDS FEET

Finding the right shoe size can be tricky, especially when it comes to kids’ feet.

Please find our guide below on how to measure the foot. Before you continue make sure you have a ruler, paper, and a pen/pencil

Steps

Step 1

Place the paper on the ground against a wall and place the foot with the heel against the wall.
Avoid a wall with skirting, as this might give wrong measurements.

Step 2

Trace against the toes with the pen and measure the length from the wall to the traced line.

Step 3

Repeat with the second foot to confirm measurements, and review against our size guides listed on each product page. Please note that as we produce different shapes of shoes, it is important to always review the size guide for each style as it may differ.

How often should you measure your feet?

Childrens feet can grow as much as 5 mm in a month. Therefore, it is important to measure children’s feet at regular intervals. In the worst case, too small or too narrow shoes can damage the foot because the skeleton is still growing and forming at a young age. Please note that we inform about the width of the shoe on our product pages under technical details. Avoid measuring feet in the morning, but later in the day after activity as this is a more accurate measurement.

How much room for growing should I allow for my kid’s shoes?

The younger the child, the more room you have to calculate in the shoe, calculate 1 cm of extra growth during the summer months and 1.5 cm in winter. Remember that lining takes up space and you’ll need to allow room for thick socks in the winter boots.

1-2 years old: 20 mm/year

2-3 years old: 15 mm/year

3-11 years old: 10 mm/year

Sizing Chart

When is it time to change to a bigger-sized shoe?

Do not rely on the child to tell when the shoe has become too small. When there is less than 5mm left in front of the toes, it’s time for new shoes. For every step you take, the foot moves, so you need a 5mm walkway to prevent the toes from hitting the front of the shoe.
